Fashion for Samurai Dogs

This is a spectacular suit of armor for a samurai dog from the mid/late Edo period. The text accompanying the listing on Toraba.com states that it was probably a vanity/parade piece for a high ranking samurai. It is possibly the only one of its kind. (I do wonder why the infamous Dog Shogun didn't think of it first)

It certainly seems an improvement over sweaters on chihuahuas.
